A Framework for Instability Analysis

چکیده

As software evolves, maintenance practices require a process of accommodating changing requirements while minimizing the cost of implementing those changes. Over time, incompatabilities between design assumptions and the operational environment become more pronounced, requiring some regions of the implementation to require frequent or repeated modification. These regions are considered to be “unstable”, and would benefit from targeted restructuring efforts as a means of realigning these assumptions and the environment. An analysis of these regions that results in the identification and classification of these instabilities can be used to prioritize and direct structural maintenance efforts. In this paper, we present a framework for performing such an analysis that does not require sophisticated change management data, can be performed at the single-line level of granularity, and can be performed on any historical set of artifacts for which a static dependence graph can be constructed. We also describe our work-to-date in validating the underlying assumptions and performing instability analyses.

A New Framework for Congestion Management with Exact Modeling of Impacting Factors

Congestion in the transmission lines is one of the technical problems that appear particularly in the deregulated environment. The voltage stability issue gets more important because of heavy loading in this environment. The main factor causing instability is the inability of the power system to meet the demand for reactive power. This paper presents a new approach for alleviation congestion re...

Financial Instability in a Developing Economic Setting: The Case of Iran

The examination of the theory and history of financial crisis in Europe and the United States is the subject matter of two important works by Kindle Berger (Kindle Herger, 1978, and Kindle Berger & Lafarge, 1982). In his first work, Kindle Berger (1978), has provided us with a remarkable account of European and American financial history from 1720 to 1975. The second hook (Kindle Berger & Lafar...

Stability analysis of stratified two-phase liquid-gas flow in a horizontal pipe

This study aimed at linear stability analysis of the stratified two-phase liquid-gas flow in a horizontal pipe. First, equations governing the linear stability of flow in each phase and boundary conditions were obtained. The governing equations were eigenvalue Orr Sommerfeld equations which are difficult and stiff problems to solve. After obtaining the velocity profiles of the gas and liquid ph...

A preliminary study of microsatellite instability analysis in different genotypes of p53 codon 72 in breast invasive ductal carcinomas

Abstract   Background: The polymorphic variants at codon 72 of the p53 gene, encoding either   proline or arginine at residue 72, produce marked change in the structure of p53.   From the evidence that the DNAmismatch repair system and p53 interact to maintain   genomic integrity, we hypothesized that the codon 72 variation may influence the   prevalence of microsatellite instability a featur...

OPTIMAL SOLUTION OF RICHARDS’ EQUATION FOR SLOPE INSTABILITY ANALYSIS USING AN INTEGRATED ENHANCED VERSION OF BLACK HOLE MECHANICS INTO THE FEM

One of the most crucial problems in geo-engineering is the instability of unsaturated slopes, causing severe loss of life and property worldwide. In this study, five novel meta-heuristic methods are employed to optimize locating the Critical Failure Surface (CFS) and corresponding Factor of Safety (FOS). A Finite Element Method (FEM) code is incorporated to convert the strong form of the Richar...
